January 2012

Friday 20th - FatDrunkStupid - 9:15pm - Festival favourites and officially the worst punk covers band in the world, these guys keep getting called back to play Glastonbury and Endorse it. Come along for some genuinely brilliant fun, and if you are lucky, you can get up and holler in the punk karaoke. Take a sneaky peek.

Saturday 21st - Quinn's Quinney - 9:15pm - They are a handsome rabble of country bumpkins with a love of all things green and silly. With a collective height of well over a mile, they are one of the tallest bands in town. Most of them are lovable rural gentleman...with the exception of Catherine - the mother hen. So what do they do? Well, they are a fast pumping skiffle band - playing traditional bouncy numbers and throwing in some peculiar 80s hits that they put their healthy, refreshing, half time, raw and ready jolly twist on. Friday 27th - The Sidekicks - 9:15pm - Established in 2001, The Sidekicks have become one of the most sought after party bands on the South West. They are a team of highly talented musicians who love to play together and have a really great time. One of the few coverrs bands that we have in, and as you would expect, we only have the very best. Beat those winter blues away and come along for a jolly old knees up. Here is a preview.

Saturday 28th - Blue Room Baboons - 9:15pm - The Blue Room Baboons are a funk band like no other! All original material that will appeal to those who like to get down and dirty. With a blend of Rock, Funk , Blues and Soul the band create a unique sound. Often blended with a drink or two, the live shows create a funk pit frenzy! One of the most explosive live acts around whose sound captivates audiences that love to groove the night away.....a true force to be reckoned with! Take a look

February 2012

Friday 3rd - Tapioka - 9:15pm - What can we say, an association of several brilliant musicians from other bands (notably Who's Afeard, Guns of Navarone and Pronghorn) getting it together to make some of the dirtiest Rhythm and Blues, the way it ought to be. Think Dr. Feelgood and Nine Inch Nails. Prepare to have your brains blown away!

Saturday 4th - Us Wolves / Midnight Wire - 9:15pm - Us Wolves are a new band all the way from Leicester playing mainly thier own stuf which draws on influences from Radiohead, Muse through to Incubus. A powerful lead singer fronting a driving rythm section. Midnight Wire are a newly formed Leicester four piece alternative / Indie / punk guitar band with previous members from successful touring bands. Having only recently formed, the band has released 2 EPs and are played regularly on BBC Introducing across the UK. The band is set to launch their debut album in 2012. Friday 10th - Fat Marrow Blues Band - 9:15pm - Dr. Chris beats those winter blues away with this upbeat traditional blues band. Expect brilliance!

Saturday 11th - Hobo Jones and the Junkyard Dogs - 9:15pm - Who said February was a quiet month! One of our favourite, ugliest boy bands on the planet come along to jolly old Bridders to skunk the night away. Hobo Jones & The Junkyard Dogs are one of the most unique musical acts on the circuit today. Covering a wide range of music from genuine 1950's skiffle such as Lonnie Donegan, through Led Zeppelin & The Doors, via Johnny Cash to modern classics such as Green Day, Motorhead and even The Pussycat Dolls, this band appeal to a wide range of ages & tastes. Friday 17th - The Dolmen - 9:15pm - The mighty Dolmen take to the stage at the start of possibly their biggest touring year to date with extensive excursions into Europe this year. Combining their own blend of Celtic, Medieval, Pirate and rock music, this will prove to be a stonking night. Take a look see.

Saturday 18th - Mother Ukers - 9:15pm - The Mother Ukers are a Ukulele band performing covers and original material for your pleasure. Using ukuleles of all shapes and sizes, the Mother Ukers take you on a musical journey through time and space. Mixing up sounds captured in the minds of mortals from over a hundred years to create their unique ‘Ukular Fusion'. With songs & flavours of Modern pop, Punk, Classic rock, the Swinging sixties, Fabulous fiftys blended together and marinaded with the sound and rhythms of the roaring 20's and seasoned with a touch of the blues in a swamp grass medley. The Mother Ukers unleash the power of their humble little four string uke's & guarantee to tickle your ears, kiss your soul, & get them feet a tapping! You just got to take a look!

Friday 24th - Boy le Monti - 9:15pm - Boy le Monti are a 5 piece band from North Dorset, England, with a distinctive take on early 1960's Jamaican Ska & Rocksteady.
With their infectious, brass drenched sound suffused with sweet vocal harmonies, the irresistable grooves not only lift the spirits but also your dancing feet. Playing venues as diverse as Gaz Mayalls St Moritz club Soho , The Hootenanny Brixton , pubs, clubs & parties through to the odd farm, stately home & castle, Boy le Monti have also played festivals including The Larmer Tree , Glastonbury , Party in the Park , The Bristol Festival , Vale Earth Fair , The Festival of Bryan & Earthwise . Saturday 25th - Freak Circus - 9:15pm - "Dear God, Allah or Jimi, hurry up and make this excellent band as famous as they deserve to be so that I can tell everybody that I knew them once". Thus spoketh the local Dorset music press about Weymouth's Freak Circus.
The Freaks have established a fervent following on the back of high energy performances, the like seldom seen in seaside resorts! And with a frontman described as the weird love child of Iggy Pop and Jarvis Cocker. A tight band. With even tighter trousers! Yes this is them

March 2012

Friday 2nd - Shelby's Elbows - 9:15pm - An acoustic duo from deepest darkest Dorset, playing a variety of covers, from Nirvana to Neil Young, Seal to Skynyrd, Dire Straits to Turin Brakes and anything in between. You never know - you might like it... Take a Look

Saturday 3rd - Wishbones - 9:15pm - A talented band who play a mix of Roots, Folk Rock and Country music and featuring a host of instruments, this band is destined to go far. Formed in 2007, this band are one of those hard working bands that travel and tour extensively. Take a peek.

Friday 9th - The Devil's Rejects - 9:15pm - Accordian fuelled punky folk tunes to keep you dancing all through the night! Have a gander (not the best video in the world)

Saturday 10th - Elephant Talk - 9:15pm - Since reforming in Spring '09 UK band Elephant Talk have been stunning audiences with their unique 'Urban Folk' sound. They skilfully combine authentically played traditional acoustic music with a wide range of electronica including: dub, dubstep, drum and bass, trance, nujazz and techno. This is proving to be popular with a wide audience in music venues, festivals and events throughout the UK and Europe. Well worth a look

Friday 16th - Skimmity Hitchers - 9:15pm - Hold on to yer hats as the weather forecast says it's going to get stormy and rain cider! You all know exactly what to expect as our favoutite Scrumpy & Western band come to town. Total madness... Everyone is welcome to join the Skimmity Hitchers party, to dance and laugh and sing along. But be prepared for much sauciness, banter and barracking too, for tis all part of the show... Some call it folk. Some call it punk. Others call it cabaret. Some simply call them a bunch of cidered-up chancers. They are all of this and more, come and see for yourselves to be sure...

Saturday 17th - Lady Winwoods Maggot - 9:15pm - Yes at last we have got them. St. Paddy's day will never quite feel the same again! Cross Johnny Cash with The Clash and you get something like what they are like. This one is absolutely unmissable!! Take a peek

Friday 23rd - Hip Route - 9:15pm - Hip Route are a three piece acoustic roots band from Wiltshire and are one of those hard working bands that are constantly on the road. Having shared the stage with bands like Jason Mraz, Newton Faulkner and Alabama 3, they now play The Ropemakers. Take a sneeky peek

Friday 30th - Pronghorn - 9:15pm - Celebrating being together for 20 years this year, the UK's leading exponents of cowpunk, Pronghjorn will lead you by the horns and drop you into the middle of the dance floor. Reassuringly offensive, a more motley collection of bad shirts, prison tattoos, greasy comb-overs, mullets and broken teeth you'd be hard pushed to find outside of a Dale Winton home video. .. Saturday 31st - Big Red Ass - 9:15pm - After their very succesful first gig, we welcome Big Red Ass back for more zany ska. Guaranteed to but a smile on your face, blisters on your feet and cider in your hair. Big Red Ass play high energy, brass fronted ska/reggae/cossack that will get you moving. You'll leave with new dancing friends, lucky as you'll most likely spill your drink over your current mates. Songs about Suzukis, Festival Toilets, being far too drunk, Jim Morrison, and gossiping are easily digested and brilliantly executed.
